Harry Potter 8?

J.K. Rowling said in a recent interview that she is no longer opposed to returning to the world of Harry Potter. Though it's not a very meaty article, click here to read what she has to say about it.

I've got mixed feelings about returning to the world of Harry Potter. On the one hand, there are probably countless new stories to be told in that world. On the other hand, it seems like Rowling wrapped up her classic series with such discipline and skill (epilogue notwithstanding), I'd hate for her to dilute her own legacy by not knowing when to stop.

What do you think? Are you ready for more Harry Potter?

Jay, this is a bit off topic but did you see that Letterman caved to the writers? He's one of the few talk show hosts in my opinion who seem more at home while they're interviewing guests (unscripted) than doing the monologue. I was thinking he could have just spent more time interviewing guests and skip the monologues, but then I read that the best guests might not want to cross the picket line.

This is a tricky topic for me. I think she should leave well enough alone but I know I won't be able to help myself but read whatever else she puts out about Harry. But even if she's pushing it, it's still nothing like the Twilight business, where you feel like the whole story could have (and should have) been wrapped up in 2 books.

Yes, Kristen, and I'd argue that one of the reasons Harry Potter was so successful is that Rowling told us from the very beginning that there would be 7 books, so in our minds, there was always some kind of endgame. It's one of the reasons "Lost" has become so good again, because the writers have had to focus and tighten the story, knowing that they only have a limited number of stories left.

This is somewhat similar to Seinfeld who threw in the towel after ten years even though the show was at the top of the charts. Friends, on the other hand, waited until no one cared about the show to go off the air. That is probably why I still love to watch Seinfeld re-runs but couldn't care less about Friends re-runs. So while I have enjoyed Harry Potter, I think ending on a good note is wise.

Speaking of things that never end, what's up with Pirates of the Caribbean? Will that story ever end?

There is something to be said regarding Jay Tay's comment that Rowling told us in the beginning there would be multiple installments - as opposed to a movie which seemed like it would be wrapped up in two and yet now we are moving onto number 4.

Does Matrix ring a bell? Need I say more?

I'd be willing to hear more about the Harry/Ginny courtship for crying out loud, I HATED the epilogue. But if it has any GAY elements at all... I'm out.

Oh, I had never watched Lost before and then when I wanted to, i figured it was too late to jump into it. Now, I'm watching it from the beginning. I'm loving it. I'm only on Season 1.

I don't want to see/read anything more about Dumbledore. It makes me kinda sick to even think about it!

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO.......NO As an epic HP fan I would be sad to hear this were true. I did read an article JKR wrote about creating an HP encyclopedia of sorts that would give people much wanted addidtional info on their favorite HP topics. For me, I hope this is where it ends.
