"Cowboys & Aliens" trailer brings me out of blog-oblivion

It's been a long time since we've seen Harrison Ford in a non-Indiana Jones big-budget adventure. Even watching this trailer, I can't quite tell what his role is going to be, but that's one of the things I loved about it. Daniel Craig heads the cast (in the production that I think replaced the postponed James Bond film), and this early look of the movie is slick and just mysterious enough to make me really excited. As I have said before, it's not very often that studios these days give big budgets for scripts that don't come with a built-in fanbase; let's hope Cowboys & Aliens doesn't disappoint.

This is soooo loff topic, but I was very pleased to see the line-up that will be casting the Hobbit movies. Martin Freeman (the british analog of Jim in their version of "The Office" is going to do awesome as Bilbo.
elijah Wood recast as Frodo....hmmmmm. Mixed feelings here. Continuity is very important (I absolutely hate the second Dumbledore I know the first one died...but still). However, Frodo was very young, an infant in fact, in the book. He has no bearing on this story, so I'm wondering why he was cast at all. Perhaps flashes into the future or the like .
At any rate, December of 2012 promises to be very exciting. We will have the end of civilization as we know it, followed by an epic flick....can't wait!

PS If you are a fan of George R.R. Martin's book series "A Song of Ice and Fire", HBO's rendition of is outstanding. Be warned though, expect all the
violence, profanity, and naked bodies the book had...and then some!
